Free visual inspection and a written scope of work before any mitigation begins - photos, moisture readings, and drying logs go in your claim file
The scope we write is the scope we bill. Anything new gets shown to you, in writing, before we touch it.
Meet the Flushing Team Behind DryMark Restoration Flushing
Our Flushing crew is the same four people who answer your call, load the trucks, and show up when water is still spreading through your kitchen at 2 a.m. We’re independently owned and operated under The Haven Standard, not a rotating cast of subcontractors. What ties us together is simple: every one of us has seen what happens when restoration work skips the documentation step, and none of us will let that happen on our jobs.
Our People
Alicia Brennan, Owner
I started Back to Dry in 2011 after six years as a claims adjuster watching homeowners lose tens of thousands because their restoration contractor handed them a handwritten receipt and a verbal promise. The documentation gap was real, and it was costing people their coverage. I built this company around fixing that.
I still carry a moisture meter on every site visit. Not because I need to, but because I’ve seen too many jobs where someone skipped the thermal imaging step and missed a wet wall cavity that turned into a mold problem three months later. The subfloor reads 19 percent moisture on day one and 8 percent on day four. That’s the whole story, and if you don’t have the log to prove it, the insurance desk reviewer has every right to deny your supplement.
I sign the 365-Day Done Right Promise on every job personally. Haven Standard, Clause 1: written price before work begins. No exceptions. Not once in twelve years.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been running mitigation crews for nine years, the last four with us in Flushing. He’s IICRC-certified in Water Damage Restoration (WRT) and Applied Structural Drying (ASD), which means he can read a psychrometric chart the way most people read a weather app: vapor pressure differential, specific humidity, and exactly how long that LGR dehumidifier needs to run before the drywall hits 12 percent moisture content.
His specialty is tertiary drying, the final phase where most crews pack up too early and leave trapped moisture behind. Marcus stays until the numbers say he’s done, not his gut. He keeps a laminated photo in his truck of a Queens basement he had to redo after another company declared it dry in 48 hours. The laminate is cracked. The lesson isn’t.
Off the truck, he coaches youth basketball in Bayside and argues loudly about Knicks rotations with anyone who’ll engage.
Elena R., Senior Installer / Reconstruction Lead
Elena came up through carpentry, not restoration, and that’s exactly why she’s good at the rebuild side. She knows how to match 1950s plaster to new drywall, how to float a subfloor in a Forest Hills co-op with board approval breathing down your neck, and how to write a scope of work that a property manager in Flushing can sign without sending it upstairs to legal.
She’s certified in lead-safe renovation and holds her OSHA 30, but her real credential is patience: reconstruction isn’t mitigation, and she won’t let anyone rush her crew into a schedule that compromises the finished product. She once spent three days sourcing matching crown molding for a Whitestone colonial because the homeowner’s grandmother had installed the original in 1962. The match was perfect. The review mentioned her by name.
She commutes from Jackson Heights and brings homemade empanadas to every job wrap party, which is the main reason our subs fight to work her sites.
David K., Service Coordinator
David answers the phones. That’s his official title, but what he actually does is triage panic. When someone calls at 3 a.m. because their washing machine hose let go and their basement is filling, David’s the live voice that picks up, no voicemail tree, no “leave a message and we’ll call back tomorrow.” He dispatches the crew, starts the documentation file, and talks the homeowner through shutting off the water main if they don’t know where it is.
He’s been with us three years, trained by Alicia personally on the documentation standards that make or break an insurance claim. He knows which adjusters want photo timestamps, which carriers require moisture logs in Celsius, and how to spell “psychrometric” without looking it up. He also knows when to stop talking and just listen.
He grew up in Flushing, still lives three blocks from Main Street, and can tell you which dumpling shop is open at any hour, which comes in handy when the crew pulls a 14-hour dry-out.
Jin W., Apprentice Technician
Jin joined us eight months ago after completing a building trades program at Queensborough Community College. He’s the apprentice, which means he carries the heaviest air mover up the steepest stairs, learns to set up a containment chamber without tearing the poly, and asks the questions that remind the rest of us what we’ve forgotten.
He’s already certified in microbial remediation and is working toward his WRT. Alicia paired him with Marcus specifically because Marcus will make him take the photo before he moves the equipment, every single time. Jin’s English is better than he thinks it is, and his Mandarin has already de-escalated two jobs where the homeowner was too shaken to explain the damage in their second language.
He takes the 7 train from downtown Flushing and is usually the first one in the yard, checking the truck inventory before anyone else clocks in.
One Standard, Every Job

The Haven Standard travels with us. Whether we’re extracting sewage from a basement near Kissena Boulevard or documenting smoke damage for a co-op board in Auburndale, the same clauses apply. Haven Standard, Clause 1: written price before work begins, delivered before the first tool comes off the truck. Every visit gets a documented photo record, included as standard, never an upsell. Every job ends with a signed 365-Day Done Right Promise.
We’ve restored over 12,000 homes since 2011. Each one has a file. Each file has photos, moisture logs, and a written scope agreed to before work started. That’s not marketing. That’s the documentation gap we were built to close.
Call (516) 386-9007. A live person answers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No voicemail while water is still moving.
